Stern Pinball has launched its latest table, celebrating 50 years of the famous role-playing game, Dungeons & Dragons.
In Stern’s Dungeons & Dragons: The Tyrant’s Eye, players are chosen members of the Dragonshield guild, which is trying to defeat the dragon queen Tiamat, who is hatching a plan to rise again and trigger the War of Dragons.
The game includes enemies such as Sammaster the lich, Xanathar the beholder and an owlbear.
Available in pro, premium and limited-edition models, each table comes with artwork by Vincent Proce, music from Cris Velasco and voiceovers from a cast that includes Kevin Smith, Gerard Way and Michael Dorn.
D&D features a number of innovations including a metal shield that can be activated to defend against Rath the Relentless, dungeon levels that are accessed through a disappearing playfield trap door and Fizomo’s store, which allows players to acquire unique items.
To honour the original release of Dungeons & Dragons in 1974, Stern will manufacture only 740 of the limited-edition model.
Seth Davis, president and CEO of Stern Pinball, said: “We’re so excited for players to experience one of the most iconic and beloved franchises that is perfect for pinball.”
